I WILL ONLY APPOINT 14 COMMISSIONERS..AYO FAYOSE

Eight months after he was sworn-in as the Governor of Ekiti State, Governor Ayodele Fayose has declared that his administration would only appoint 14 commissioners in view of the financial crisis rocking the State.
Fayose assumed office on October 16, 2014 in succession to ex-Governor Kayode Fayemi, who ruled the State for four years.
The Governor made the declaration on Friday while featuring on a monthly radio and television programme, tagged “Meet Your Governor,” .
He said he deliberately refused to announce names of commissioners since he assumed office because of paucity of funds.
Fayose added that the immediate past administration appointed more than enough number of commissioners as well as 102 special advisers, saying that the present economic situation in the state would not allow him to repeat such a trend.
Fayose assured the people of the state that the list of the commissioners would be presented to the state House of Assembly within 48 hours.
He said he felt that there was no need appointing people into political offices when there was no money to pay them at the end of the day.
The governor said a number of measures had been designed by his government towards ensuring that the current economic crisis in the country did not bite too much on the people of the state.
He told the people that his administration would explore all available means towards improving internally-generated revenue in the state.
As part of the measure, Fayose said all taxable adults, including corporate bodies must live up to their responsibilities by being alive to their duties to the government.
He charged all federal agencies operating in the state to pay up taxes they are owing the state so as to avoid government action that might be unpalatable to them.
Besides, he tasked all persons, who bought plots of land as well as homes from the state government since 2003, but who were yet to pay up to do the needful within a reasonable period of time to avoid such facilities from being reclaimed from them.
On the issue of security, Governor Fayose threatened that any resident who allowed his house or building to be used either as accommodation or warehouse by armed robbers would have such property demolished immediately.
In a similar vein, he also threatened to seize farmlands where cultivation of Indian hemp was discovered in any part of the state.
Fayose lamented that the fire incident which razed the market recently could have been prevented if there was a way for the state fire services could get inside the market to put out the fire.
He assured that the new market to be constructed would have facilities such as police station, functional fire station as well as parking space, befitting of a state capital.
