Wife of the Vice President, Hajia Amina Namadi Sambo, has disclosed of what she intends to go back to the classroom to acquire more knowledge after the expiration of her husband’s tenure on May 29.
Mrs. Sambo, a graduate of Political Science from the Ado Bayero University, Kano spoke yesterday at a Walima organised in her honour by the Coalition of Nigerian Muslim Women at the National Mosque, Abuja.
Also honoured with her was the wife of the Federal Capital Territory minister, Hajia Aisha Bala Mohammed.
Sambo, who did not disclose which institution or course of study she intends to pursue, said although she would continue to remain accessible, there will be times when she may be unable to immediately honour invitations to public engagements due to her academic pursuits.
“I will like to continue to leave my doors open in case you will call on me. In case I say I am having exams…I am going back to school. So, do not be offended, I might be studying, but be rest assured that I will always be with you”, she promised.
Hajia Sambo disclosed that all was now set for the commissioning of the first Islamic Library in Nigeria which is located in Kaduna state, urging the women to strive to each donate a book to the facility.
She thanked the Muslim Ummah for their support for the current administration, urging them to extend same to the incoming administration of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.
The vice president’s wife however asked the Ummah to forgive any real or imagined shortcomings of the outgoing administration, assuring them of her continued support even as a private citizen.
“I want to assure you that on my part, in my own little way, I will continue to be of service to humanity. I will continue to help the less-privileged in the society, the downtrodden, the physically challenged, and most importantly, to my Deen.
The Coalition of Muslim Women in Nigeria said they were honouring the two women for their efforts towards uplifting humanity. The group also hailed them for being pious and not allowing the demands of office to sway them from the right path.
