Olugbemi, who addressed newsmen at the Speaker’s Lodge along with the other PDP members of the Assembly on Friday, said, “sequel to previous correspondence, the clerk and I have, again, caused to be written to the Chief Judge, yet another letter refuting the letter purportedly emanating from the office of the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly mandating him (Chief Judge) to constitute an investigative panel in relation to impeachment notice, which allegedly emanated from my office.”
Olugbemi, who was flanked by the other six members of the PDP caucus of the House, said the Chief Judge should discountenance the letter from the 19 All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers ordering him to set up a panel to probe Governor Ayodele Fayose.
He said the gathering had all the trappings of officialdom as prescribed by the constitution, saying, “those of us seated here are the authentic members of the Assembly who enjoy the necessary paraphernalia of office in the state House of Assembly to conduct sitting.”
At the briefing, which was also attended by the Clerk of the Assembly, Mr Tola Esan, and other top government functionaries in the state legislature, Olugbemi, who described Omirin as “an impostor” and claimed that “the said letter directing the Chief Judge of Ekiti State to constitute an investigative panel did not emanate from the Ekiti State House of Assembly.”
While reiterating his claim that Dr. Adewale Omirin had been impeached as the Speaker of the Assembly, he said the only legitimate place to hold any valid sitting recognised by the constitution, is the chambers of the State House of Assembly.
