Wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Aishat Buhari, on Tuesday, said her husband, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, has no money to buy votes in the coming elections adding that Nigerians are not for sale.
She stated this during the party’s South-West zone women’s presidential rally held at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.
She said, “When my husband was in Lagos during the primaries, he told Nigerians that he has no money to buy them and if at all he has, he can’t do that because Nigerians are not for sale. He believes in government of integrity, honesty and accountabilty.”
Mrs Buhari was flanked by the wife of Buhari’s running mate, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo; wife of Ogun State governor, Funso Amosun; wife of Lagos State Governor, Abimbola Fashola; Lagos State deputy governor, Mrs Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire; Osun State deputy governor, Mrs Titilayo Laoye-Tomori.
Others include wife of Rivers State Governor, Mrs Judith Amaechi; wife of Imo State governor, Nkechi Okorocha; wife of APC national chairman, Mrs Odigie-Oyegun; national zonal women leader, Mrs Kemi Nelson; wife of Nassarawa State governor, Hajia Salamatu Al-Makura among others.
Mrs Buhari promised that her husband would establish a ministry for women if elected in the Saturday polls.
She expressed worry over the inability of women in the troubled states in the North-East region to partake or organise rally for the presidential election, due to insecurity.
Mrs Buhari said her husband’s administration would promote zero tolerance for violence, especially domestic violence against women and children.
“My heart goes to our sisters, daughters, grandmothers, and women in the North-East, Yobe, Adamawa and Borno, who do not have the opportunity of doing the kind of rally and enlightenment that we are doing today towards the elections.
Mrs Osinbajo in her remarks told Nigerians to pray for the nation for a peaceful election, for them to experience the expected change the nation desired.
She said that a vote for Buhari and her husband, Professor Yemi Osinbajo is a vote for change for better things in the country.
The host governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, admonished those that were yet to collect their permanent voter cards (PVCs) to do so for them to exercise their rights in the elections.
He told the gathering that the country at this point in its political history needed the like of Buhari/Osinbajo.
