The Senate, on Wednesday, deferred the screening of former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro and three others till next week Tuesday.
The senators had, after close to two hours of executive session, resolved to take only four of the eight nominees on Wednesday, while the four others, including Obanikoro, would be taken next week.
The four nominees screened on Wednesday were Senator Patricia Akwashiki (Nasarawa); Nicholas Ada (Benue); Augustine Akobundu (Abia) and Fidelis Nwankwo (Ebonyi). Only Akwashiki, a former senator, was asked to take a bow and leave.
Senators Obanikoro (Lagos); Hauwa Lawan (Jigawa); Kenneth Kobani (Rivers) and Joel Danlami Ikenya (Taraba) are to be screened next week.
Sources in the Senate, however said after the executive session that opposition lawmakers raised the issue of petitions against Obanikoro, while the Senate President, David Mark, and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, appealed to all senators to respect the tradition of “bow and go” usually extended to former members of the National Assembly during such screening
