Kano State High Court, Gezewa Division, yesterday fixed March 11 for Wasilat Tasiu, 14, to be arraigned before over the alleged murder of her 35-year-old husband and three others.
The Kano State Ministry of Justice had dragged the 14-year-old bride before the court on a four-count charge, alleging that she murdered her 35-year-old husband, Umar Sani and three others.
The charge sheet filed against the minor stated that on April 5, 2014, at Yan Tsoro village in Gaya Local Government Area of Kano State, Wosilat poisoned a meal with a conceived intent to snuff life out of her late husband.
The charge sheet further stated that Umar Sani (35), Hassan Alhassan (25), Nasiru Mohammed (13), and Indo Ibrahim (12) all ate from the poisoned meal and they lost their lives.
The accused person, Wosilata Tasiu, declined to respond to the allegation levelled against her, making Justice Mohammed Yahya to enter a plea on her behalf.
Counsel to the accused person, Husaina Ibrahim, filed a motion, urging the court to dispel the matter.
The court then adjourned the case to March 11 for the defence counsel to adopt the motion pleading with the court to dismiss the case.
The court further directed that the prosecution counsel file its response to the motion, on same date.
