Jigawa State
Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has dismissed reports that he has been involved
in defection talks with the All Progressives Congress (APC), dismissing
Monday’s speculative reports on his meeting with the Rivers State Governor,
Chibuike Amaechi as mere “bunkum”.
Lamido, who
is the chairman of the Presidential Campaign of the PDP in the North-west zone,
had held a meeting with Amaechi, who doubles as the Director-General of the APC
Presidential Campaign Organisation in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, leading
to speculation that he was in talks with the latter in order to defect to APC.
After the
meeting, both governors did not speak with journalists on the outcome of the
meeting.
However,
Lamido in a response to enquiries seeking clarification on rumours of his
defection from PDP to APC, responded by text, saying the allegation was
“bunkum”.
