SOMETIME AGO WE WROTE AN ARTICLE ON THE UNETHICAL BEHAVIOUR GOING ON AT MY NUMBER ONE NEWSPAPER THE SUN WHICH ORJI KANU HAS TURNED INTO A PERSONAL WAR MOUTH PIECE TO FIGHT T A ORJI OF ABIA STATE..SOME OF OUR FRIENDS at the sun FELT WE WERE A BIT HARSH ON THEM..NOW READ THIS FROM A VETERAN JOURNALIST AND COLUMNIST WITH SUN Uche Ezechukwu
"For four long years, every week, I wrote the CAPITAL MATTERS column in the Sun newspaper for free, in response to my friend's request who sai...d he wanted to upgrade the status of the paper from a tabloid to a serious paper. That was when Dr. Amanze Obi departed to serve as commissioner under Gov. Ohakim and I was invited to fill his Monday slot. I found myself in the company of other great writers like my friend, Okey Ndibe. Then, one day, three months ago, during an international telephone conversation, OUK asked me pointedly: "Why are you not writing on Aba and on TA Orji?"
"What's there to write on Aba on Orji?, I asked him.
"Everybody is writing on Aba and you are writing nonsense on other things including on Ihejirika."
I laughed and reminded him that I agreed to write for The Sun as my contribution to public debate and on the condition that nobody alive would dictate to me on my subject, and so I will not brook being dictated to on what to write and when.
Moreover I never inherit other people's enemies; he should go and settle his issues with TAO and leave me out of it, especially as I am not even from Abia State.
So, that was how and why I threw in the towel as a columnist in The Sun.
I just think I should tell my friends"....
