2015..Venue,the Blue roof ,LTV complex ,Agidingi road,Ikeja Lagos.
When i got a message from a close ally of Lagos State
Governor last Monday to attend the 28th series 100 days town hall
meeting of Lagos Governor ,Babatunde Fashola in Lagos,my immediate reply was
that i won’t be able to attend.I knew
it will be mainly a Party affair and another form of campaign, i don’t want to
be caught in the web of the ever increasing
vocal members of any political party atleast not in Lagos..Lagos to me is always a very volatile place to attend any
political gathering.
The next morning, my friend called
me again asking that i should just try to make it even if it is for 10 minutes..Well,i
decided to give it a trial since LTV is just about 5 minutes drive from where I was.
I underestimated the trip...I thought i was in Abuja
where i can breeze in and out of venues within minutes. When i hit the Obafemi
Awolowo way,i realised what awaits me. The traffic built up right from Airport
Hotel down to Cocacola.
It was bumper to bumper.APC supporters had taken over
all the roads.
Getting to LTV was a problem..No where to park.A 5
minutes minute journey took me over 55 minutes.At the end of it all,i decided
to park at Shoprite.
I trekked to LTV..The whole place was jam packed. Security
was tight but relaxed.The hall was filled to the brim..The place was filled
with supporters of APC,media men,traditional rulers,ex governor Jakande and
several other people.
Gov Fashola who wore a blue agbada stood at the podium
reeling out his achievements in the past 100 days.
Education:
He took a swipe at the guber candidate of PDP Jimi
Agbaje who said the standard of education has fallen in the State.
Fashola said the State just won three trophies at the
recently concluded JET competition held in Abuja.He reeled out the names of the
students and the tutors.
Health:
He said LASUTH has just performed the first succcesul
ear operation in Nigeria ,where deaf people can now be operated upon.
Housing:
The State is moving on with its Low cost housing schemes
and additional building being erected in different parts of the country. He
once again took on Jonathan and the PDP..According to him, Goodluck has not
been able to build any appreciable houses. He said while the State is spending
over N46bn on houses, the FG invited all 36 State commissioners of Finance to
discuss how to share N3bn housing fund.
RAILWAY:
Governor Fashola said what the Federal government is
celebrating are dilapidated diesel trains made in China which he saw himself
when he visited China.He promised that the APC State of Lagos is going to give
Lagosians electricity powered train.
ON LASAA AND BILLBOARD:
He accused the FG of violating rights on outdoor
advertisement in Lagos by displacing GLO and HUWAII adverts duly paid for by
clients to erect Goodluck Jonathan’s adverts on Street light pools.
He spoke on transportation,urban
development,agriculture and other welsfare programmes for the people of Lagos.
RELATIONSHIP WITH AMBIODE:
Governor Fashola said he is fully in support of
Akinwunmi candidature and call on all Lagosians to vote massively for him so
that he can continue the good legacy left by Tinubu and himself.
ON JIMI AGABJE:
He accused the PDP Candidate of not paying taxes in the
State in the past four years.
He said Agbaje’s Bold Idea is BOLD IDEA WITH NOTHING.
He thanked all Lagosians for their support so
far..saying that governance is a continuous thing,what ever is left that he couldn’t
achieve ,Ambiode will continue from there.
Fashola’s briefing was factual, intellectually
presented though i had my reservation when he deviated from the core reason why
he invited us atimes.I will give him an A+
THE TOWN HALL MEETING WAS AN EYE OPENER,HOW I WSH
OTHERS WILL FOLLOW HIS FOOTPATH.
