Many people have been asking for my sincere assessment of President Goodluck Jonathan's speech in Lagos yesterday.I decided to let the debate flow for about 24 hours before giving my assessment so as not to pre-empt the flow of debate on my wall.
I believe the President's speech was just ABOVE AVERAGE.. Did I expect more from him ,definitely YES..I expected the President to have used the occasion to highlight w...hat he has achieved in the past 6 years and what he intends to do in the next 4 years.
I expected Goodluck to have thoroughly studied Barrack Obama's second term campaign declaration. I expected him to have given us HOPE that all is not lost.
I felt the President wasted so much time replying allegations of the opposition rather than focusing on his own TERMS OF CONTRACT.
Sure ,he made good points in key areas especially some BLATANT and deliberate LIES of the Opposition but I was expecting my President not to have been worked up. It was obvious he was speaking from the point of anger (he is human).
I hope the President will use his campaign in the other 35 States and FCT to highlight his achievements and his programmes for the next four years.
He should not resort to replying every single allegation thrown at him by the opposition.. He should leave that to the Doyin Okupes and Fani Kayode's of this world.
All in all, the President was above average in his performance which was a far cry from that of Buhari in Port Harcourt which was completely flat.. I couldn't make any sense out of all Buhari said except that he will fight CORRUPTION as if that is the ONLY problem facing NIGERIA.. Let the debate CONTINUE.
