*Today, the Peoples Democratic Party is the major catalyst for the unity of Nigeria. It is Nigeria's only truly national political party, neither owned by an individual, group nor associated wit...h tribal or religious groups. It is a melting pot with an in-built capacity to accommodate the interests of all Nigerians irrespective of class, tribe, religion and political persuasions.
*The strong leadership of the PDP, nationwide and non-discriminatory membership, exert a heavy centripetal pull on the unity of the nation in such a way that has relegated the barriers of race, religion and ideological persuasions; the very issues that kept Nigeria down since independence and partly caused the decline of successive republics.
*Only a political party like the PDP could keep Nigeria together in the first few years of this democratic dispensation when animosities and sentiments bottled up across decades of military rule burst open in a seeming contradiction of freedom which democracy brought.
*Only the PDP could have kept Nigeria together in 2010 when the ill health and subsequent death of President Umar Musa Yar'Adua almost brought our dear nation to the precipice.
*At present, only the PDP could have sustained the unity of Nigeria in the face of unprecedented insurgency obviously engineered by those who do not wish the nation well.
*Only the PDP can preserve the unity of Nigeria and that is why our Presidential candidate is resolutely committed to the fact that his aspiration is not worth the blood of any Nigerian.
