Court Grants PDP Leave For Motion To Vacate Tambuwal's Seat

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday granted leave to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)... to file a motion for an order of mandamus compelling Speaker Aminu Tambuwal to declare his seat in the House of Representatives vacant.
Justice Ahmed Mohammed also granted leave to the PDP to serve the originating summons of the application to principal officers of the House by delivering it on the Clerk of the House of Representatives.
The judge also dismissed, as lacking merit, an application by constituents of Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency of Sokoto State seeking to join suit to stop moves to remove Tambuwal as Speaker of House of Representatives.
In an ex parte application brought by its counsel, Mike Ahamba (SAN), PDP urges the court to compel Speaker Tambuwal "to give effect to the provisions of Section 68(1) (g) of the 1999 Constitution by declaring the Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency seat vacant."
