Armed Robbers Snatches Gov Sule Lamido's Car

Gunmen suspected to be robbers yesterday snatched an official car of Jigawa State governor Sule Lamido at gunpoint.

The car, confirmed to be one of the official spare cars of the governor, was said to have been stolen from its driver around by-pass road in the state capital, Dutse.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abdul Jinjiri, said they received a report of a robbery case in which a Toyota Land cruser was snatched at gunpoint in the state capital at about 9pm.

He explained that, according to the report, the suspected robbers were in a Peugeot 406 when they stopped the Toyota driver and confiscated it.

Jinjiri added that after receiving the report, policemen were quickly deployed to trail the missing car.

He, however, revealed that the driver of the missing car was in the hands of the police for interrogation.

It was  observed that, recently, there has been upsurge in vehicle robberies, house breaking and cattle rustling in the state, which may not be unconnected with the approach of Christmas and New Year celebrations
