About two people were confirmed dead yesterday during the opening ceremony of the Akwa Ibom International Stadium.Several others were also injured.The event which witnessed a galaxy of stars from sports and enetertainmnet industry was declared open by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan accompanied by the Presidents of Ghana and Ivory Coast.In attendance was also the former President of Ghana,Jerry Rawlings.Performance featured Tiwa Savage,Don Jazzy,Dr Sid,Kcee and a host of other entertainment groups.The unfortunate incident happened during the struggle by a large number of spectators to squeeze into the 30,000 capacity state of the art stadium.The surging crowds became impatient and unruly and in the course of trying to bring the situation under control..There was a stampeded which led to the death of the two unfortunate victims .
