Labour Party Eulogises Pastor Tunde Bakare At 60

Pastor Tunde Bakare, the Serving Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, has been described as a detribalized Nigerian, exemplary man of God and champion of truth, social justice and peace worthy of emulation by all and sundry. This was contained in a congratulatory statement issued by the National Secretary of Nigeria’s Labour Party, Barrister Kayode Ajulo on occasion of the 60th birthday of Pastor Bakare.
“While some men of God jostle for attention and hobnob with the high and mighty and worldly men of timber and caliber, Pastor Bakare has never fails to tell it to the powers that be without prevarication or fear of disapproval. He never fails to call a spade a spade or hit the nail on the head at the most auspicious moment.
Barr. Ajulo described him as man “who distinguishes himself by addressing the problems of the ordinary people and locating them in context of practical political economy and spiritual poverty rather than preaching baseless prosperity.” He noted that but for the refusal of successive leaders to heed this humble icon’s wise counsels, Nigeria’s democracy would have advanced beyond the toddler’s tottering steps it is presently.
“A preacher not given to doomsday declamations, his sense of humour, mastery of idioms and logical analyses and syntheses make him a towering pillar of light. In an age when the public domain is awash with high scandals, Pastor Bakare has succeeded in setting himself apart from the crowd wallowing in the murky waters, keeping his immaculate cloak unstained.
“Through the gospel programme he hosts on television, Moment of Truth, and the Global Apostolic Impact Network (GAIN) which he presides over, Pastor Bakare has touched the lives and rekindled the hopes of millions of people, young and old, men and women and poor and rich in Nigeria and across the world at large.
According to the statement, “it is noteworthy that Pastor Bakare was among the few people who participated at the just-concluded National Conference without receiving any government allowance, even as he demonstrated his commitment by being consistent and regular at both plenary and committee meetings. It is amazing that that during this period, the erudite theologist and prolific writer never missed his regular Sunday sermons and his ink well did not run dry.”
While urging Nigerians to emulate the credible and highly disciplined preacher and political figure, he called on Pastor Bakare to continue toeing the path of truth and not allow himself to be swayed by detractors.
He also urge the Federal Government of Nigeria led by President Goodluck Ebere Jonathan, GCFR to make haste in bestowing on him with National Honour, stating that "our heroes must be honored while alive and its high time Nigerian Government celebrate the likes of Pastor Tunde Bakare.
Finally, Barr. Ajulo wished Pastor Bakare, who he described as a voice of courage for the nation, many more years of meritorious service to Nigerians and humanity at large.
