The leadership of the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives
Congress led by its Chairman, Alhaji Ishola Balogun-Fulani, on Monday,
presented a governorship nomination form to the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji
Abdulfatah Ahmed, at the Government House, Ilorin, to contest for a second term
in office.
Balogun-Fulani handed over the nomination form to Ahmed in the presence
of some government functionaries and party officials.
The governor said the continued display of unity as exhibited by APC
members during his declaration would play a pivotal role in the forthcoming
general elections in the state.
He urged members of the party to sustain the tempo to enable the APC win
all elective posts in 2015.
Meanwhile Balogun-Fulani, during a media conference in Ilorin on Monday,
said no candidate had been anointed in the party for any elective position
ahead the 2015 general elections.
He added that regardless of any internal mechanism of screening of
aspirants, all aspirants would still participate in the primary elections.
According to him, the sale of nomination forms for elective positions in
the state was still in progress.
He urged aspirants who had not collected their nomination forms to do
so, adding that all aspirants were free to contest any position of their
choice.
Balogun-Fulani said the APC was not against the emergence of candidates
through a consensus arrangement.
He, however, added that consensus arrangement would still be subjected
to primaries and that all electoral process for the emergence of candidates
would be strictly adhered to.
