Reflection:Independence Celebration,What Happened To The Good Old Days?

In those days, we go on march pass, wear our best Cortina sandals and white socks.. Given Nigerian flags to wave.. lots of rice and funfair.. Some of us even go to Apapa Amusement parks.. We looked forward to the 7am Presidential address.. The Military parade was fascinating. Later on ,the fighter jets flew over the air ,you could see it from any part of L:agos once it flies over Tafawa Balewa Square.. For hours, it used to be celebration galore.. But now, every year on 1st of October, it looks like Nigeria is in Mourning.. Where did we get it wrong.. For those of you within my era, which other aspect of Nigeria's Independence anniversary would you remember?.
