The Nigeria Leadership Initiative [NLI] is set to hold the second edition
of its Diplomatic Dialogue Series (DDS) in Lagos Nigeria. The event is
scheduled to hold at The Metropolitan Club, Victoria Island, Lagos on
Wednesday, October 15 at 12.30pm. His Excellency, Ambassador James Entwistle, US Ambassador to Nigeria will be the Guest Envoy.
The DDS is
a monthly event aimed at strengthening bilateral relations with other countries
and the investment community from other nations. It is a platform for
interaction with the Ambassadors of foreign representation in Nigeria and a
forum for networking for the purpose of business relationships and catalytic
investments. The DDS creates a sustainable forum for the leaders of corporate
Nigeria, public service leaders, NLI Senior Fellows, Fellows and Associates,
senior government officials, the academia, policy makers and the media to
engage, interact and share ideas with Diplomatic Envoys. In short, the DDS is
where foreign policy meets business.
According to Yinka Oyinlola, CEO of NLI, “Nigeria is consistently a pro-America nation with the
US being Nigeria's greatest trading partner and foreign assistance priority in
the areas of health, peace and security, economic growth and education.
Furthermore, Oyinlola stated that his expectations
for this second edition of the DDS ‘’is
that new vistas of opportunities
for trade and commerce; information sharing; linkage
programmes and exchanges will be initiated’’.
Also speaking,
NLI’s Director of Program, Anthony Ubani stated that “coming on the heels of the US-Africa
Leaders Summit in Washington, and the billions of dollars in business deals and
commitments to expand food and power programs in Africa, there are exciting
issues for the business community in Nigeria to engage the US Ambassador on
during the dialogue.”
