Strong indications have emerged that the new management of Bank of Industry led by Rasheed Olaoluwa may soon terminate the ambassadorial contract between the bank and the music star, Dapo Adebanjo popularly known as Dbanj. This is as a result of the new managing director’s declaration that the new management cannot accept the entertainment and creative industry as one of it’s core focus. To this end,the managing director is said to have directed his team to begin to look the other way. It was this declaration according to an impeccable source that raised the fear that Dbanj may be the first casualty of the new thinking of Olaoluwa,a former UBA staff..

The bank’s boss who is believed to have been sponsored to the post by top banker,Tony Elumelu was particularly quoted by a source to have frowned at the bank’s involvement in the entertainment world, saying ‘ let’s leave all these people alone for a while and concentrate on other areas’. This position according to the source is in contrary to the federal government’s position that the entertainment industry contributes significantly to the country’s GDP.
The fear expressed by some staff of the bank is what will the bank be doing with the federal government intervention fund of $200m if Olaoluwa stamp his feet to jettison entertainment industry. It would be recalled however that the bank in recent past had involved in various entertainment project including the London Olympic where the bank sponsored the performances of Nigerian music stars at the Olympic village.
Until his appointment, Olaoluwa was the Group Director, Financial Services at Heirs Holdings, the African proprietary investment company chaired by Tony O. Elumelu.
There he was said to have a record of philandering with female staffers which will be a topic of another day.
