Governor James Ngilari of Adamawa State; his lawyer, Mr. Festus Keyamo; other state government officials and scores of others were on Friday stranded in Kano.
The Arik Air’s Boeing 737 aircraft in which they were travelling from Yola, the state capital, to Abuja was said to have developed “a technical fault.”
The Flight W3 409 earlier scheduled to take off by 3.10pm did not leave Yola until around 4.35pm.
Trouble start...ed again when the pilot announced that the flight had to be diverted to the Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano because of bad weather in Abuja.
He promised to proceed from Kano to Abuja once the weather condition improved.
After waiting for over an hour however, the pilot later admitted that it would not be safe to proceed to Abuja because the aircraft had developed a technical problem.
He claimed he had contacted the airline’s office and that another aircraft would be brought to convey the stranded passengers.
When the waiting became endless, the governor and members of his entourage left at about 8pm.
That was Ngilari’s first trip outside the state since he was inaugurated on Wednesday based on a judgment of a Federal High Court, Abuja.
Other stranded and helpless passengers remained at the feet of the aircraft.
A female cabin crew member later announced that another aircraft was being expected in Kano at about 10pm to convey the stranded passengers.
