Abia 2015: Ikpeazu Resigns As ASEPA Boss, Joins Guber Race”.


Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has formerly declared his intention to contest the 2015 governorship election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Ikpeazu, a former Head of the Department of Applied Biochemistry,  Faculty of Applied Natural Sciences in the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) has joined the 2015 governorship election in Abia State, today, resigned as the as the Deputy General Manager of the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) to former join the governorship race.

Ikpeazu, who was appointed the ASEPA Deputy General Manager in June 2013, by Governor T A Orji, announced his resignation at a press conference in his Aba.

According to him, his resignation as the ASEPA DMG is in furtherance of his intention to vie for the governorship of Abia state.

He said that he had already forwarded his resignation letter to Governor Theodore Orji, adding that his resignation took effect from October 10, 2014 after 15 months he was specifically assigned to keep Aba clean.

His words: “I am certain that there is still a lot to be done and I am equally convinced that my desire to become the next governor of Abia state will afford me a better opportunity to complete the clean-up and rebirth of our community in a more sustainable and holistic fashion.”

Ikpeazu, who is a scientist with a bias for biochemistry, said that his experience within the corridors of politics  has spanned over 20 years hence his confident that he possessed “the capacity to analyse the critical proactive solutions” of Abia’s development challenges.

“I represent the home-bred stock of politicians in this clime with the requisite dynamism to harness all progressive-minded elements within and outside our environment.

I have the energy and drive to pursue and capture all the technological and economic derivatives required for rapid growth and sustenance of existing milestones as encapsulated within the Ochendo legacy frameworks.

The gubernatorial aspirant said he was desirous to see Aba rise to its feet and take its proper place as a major commercial city not only in the southeast but in Nigeria in general, saying, ‘if you get Aba right you will get Abia right” because of the inherent potentials of Enyimba city.

He said that having ceased to be the ASEPA DGM he would hit the road immediately by returning to Abia stakeholders and leaders of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) “to convince them to support my intention to become the next Governor of our dear state, Abia

  1. He is a good man, bt I would hav advised him to pitch his tenth with the APC. Dat state needs serious progress. Dat should be one of d poorest developed states in nigeria
