Following the resolution of the Taraba State
Executive Council meeting of 10 September, 2014, the state House of Assembly
has constituted a medical panel to probe into the health status of the governor
of the state, Danbaba Suntai.
The outcome of the investigation by the panel is to
form the basis for further decisions of the assembly on the issue of governance
of the state.
In a statement obtained by Sunday Tribune, the
speaker of the assembly, Rt. Hon. Josiah Kente, confirmed the setting up of the
panel.
The speaker said he evoked the provision of section
189(1) (b) and 189 (4) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of
Nigeria, which he said, requested him to appoint a medical panel to verify the
health condition of the executive governor of the state in a situation as this.
The panel is headed by Professor Bala Shehu, with
Dr. Inusa Samaila; Professor Peter Alabi; Dr. Shehu Sule and Dr. Ahmed Kara,
who is a personal physician to Governor Suntai.
