According to a statement issued by Joe Igbokwe, the Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the APC on Sunday September 21, 2014, “After the PDP South-west Rally in Lagos yesterday one Alhaji Azeez Asake of APC was shot and killed by the notorious Abija group led by one Olokodana and Ade lawyer loyal to Senator Musliu Obanikoro.”
For the records, Senator Obanikoro emphatically disclaims the APC’s statement as neither he nor any of his supporters has any connection with the murder of Alhaji Azeez Asake in any shape or form.
In defiance of common sense and basic logic, Joe Igbokwe the story-teller, in a figment of his own debased imagination, wants the world to believe that after a successful mega PDP rally in Lagos on Saturday where no single bullet was fired, PDP supporters then proceeded to murder an APC member!
Without prejudice to ongoing investigations by relevant security agents, it is dishonorable, distasteful and callous that those who owe Lagosians an explanation over the murder of Alhaji Asake are the ones pointing accusing fingers at others.
Igbokwe’s foul reference to the 2007 Lagos Governorship race when Obanikoro was Governorship candidate of the PDP is a most malicious and mischievous attempt to drag the Honourable Minister into the cesspool of mudslinging, brutish desperation and Stone Age approach to politics that the APC is well known for.
It is public knowledge that in 2007, it was Senator Obanikoro who was shot at several times. But for his bulletproof car and sheer divine providence, he would have been killed on the spot. Chief Demola Seriki who is now a chieftain of the APC was sitting right beside Senator Obanikoro in the same car when the hired assassins fired bullets at the car.
The APC’s attempt to tarnish the image of Senator Obanikoro at all costs is beginning to sound like a broken record and Igbokwe’s character assassination antics is at best reminiscent of Shakespeare’s Macbeth; “a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”
Unlike the unbridled barbarism, thuggery and violence that have become characteristic of the APC in Lagos State, Senator Obanikoro urges all his supporters to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding. He commends the peaceful conduct and commitment of loyal PDP supporters who turned out in their thousands to welcome President Goodluck Jonathan during the PDP Lagos South West rally on Saturday.
Finally, Senator Obanikoro’s faith in the ability of our security agents in finding the killers of Alhaji Azeez Asake remains unflinching. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Lie. Koro, you are synonymous to violence. If PDP should bring you as their gubernitorial candidate, that will be the end of the party in Lagos state.
