The crises brewing in the Ipokia Local Government
Council of Ogun State has reached a head as all the 12 Councillors, arising
from their meeting on Thursday announced the suspension of the chairman, Isiaka
Wale Aderohunmu, accusing him of various acts of misconduct.
According to the lawmakers, the chairman had in the
last two years ran the affairs of the local government council like a private
estate, hiring out equipment of the council to people they describe as his
"cronies".
In a Notification letter, signed by the Leader,
Hon.Tayo Oyekanmi and all the eleven Councillors, the lawmakers said they
are acting in consonance with Section 37(2) of the Ogun State Local Government
Law announced that "Hon. Isiaka Wale Aderohunmu is hereby suspended till
further notice based on the following acts of gross misconduct".
Part of the allegation raised against the chairman
include "failure to abide by the Resolution of the 'House in returning the
sum of over Five Million naira to the local government which accrued from
hiring out the bulldozer" property of the council and for filing to appear
before the 'House' on five different occasions when he was invited.
