Dear Sir,
PETITION
PETITION FOR IMMEDIATE INVESTIGATION INTO ALLEDGED MURDER OF MR. ADESOJI ADEBOYE BY SUSPECTED SUPPORTERS OF MR. JIMI AGBAJE OF THE PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP) IN LAGOS STATE ON MONDAY 25TH AUGUST 2014.
With due regards, I have the authority of the governing board of the Centre for Rights and Grassroots Initiative (CRGI) to intimate you with this group which is a civil society organization at the forefront of the struggle and agitation for strict observance and respect for due process, rule of law and constitutionalism in our national life through lawful means.
Sir, in obeisance to our patriotic call to duty, we deem it necessary to bring to your attention for urgent investigation the alleged murder of Mr. Adesoji Adeboye on Monday 25th August, 2014 in Lagos state by suspected supporters of Mr. Jimi Agbaje of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
On Monday 25th August, Mr. Adesoji Adeboye, a Nigerian of 39 years of age and a commercial bus driver with his station at Agege, was summoned by his boss Mr. Kunle Oduyale aka (Osha) to go and convey some PDP party members said to be Mr. Jimi Agbaje supporters from the old Lagos end toll gate at Alapere at about 6am to a political rally being held by Mr. Jimi Agbaje in Epe, Lagos state with his bus with Registration number AGL 326 XG. Unfortunately on same day, at about 4.30pm in the evening, people noticed Mr. Adesoji Adeboye lying in a pool of blood beside his bus at a spot very close to the FERMA yard, close to the old Lagos end toll gate inward Ibadan with no passenger(s) in his bus.
From reports gathered, one of the passersby recognized the bus as belonging to Mr. Kunle Oduyale and thereafter contacted him and narrated what happened. Not quite long, Mr. Oduyale came to the scene with a friend by name Mr. Semiu and rushed his bus driver Mr. Adesoji Adeboye to the emergency unit of the Lagos state health station very close to the old Lagos end of the toll gate inward Lagos and there Mr. Adeboye was pronounced dead. Mr. Kunle Oduyale, thereafter moved the corpse to the mainland hospital in Yaba after obtaining a police report from the Nigeria Police force, Ketu division. He then contacted the family with the sad news.
According to sources, on inquiry by Mr. Adesoji Adeboye's family, Mr. Oduyale said Adeboye died of injuries sustained in a riot in Ketu, but investigation revealed that no such thing occurred on the said day in question in the Ketu/mile 12 division. On further prodding, he admitted that he knows little about what transpired but admitted being the one who directed Mr. Adesoji Adeboye his bus driver to convey the party members to a political rally in Epe and that he can help apprehend the key members whom Mr. Adeboye transported. Thereafter, the police at Ketu arrested Mr. Kunle Oduyale and his friend Mr. Sola with GSM number 08027190668 who is also the chairman of the interstate bus park at old toll gate and who was the one who introduced Mr. Kunle Oduyale to the political party members who chartered the bus.
On Wednesday 28th August, 2014, the Nigeria police force, Ketu division transferred the case of murder to the SCID Panti, Yaba for further action.
From our findings, it was discovered that Mr. Adesoji Adeboye had a bullet wound on his thigh, we also found out that the bus which Mr. Adesoji Adeboye drove was blood soaked and which necessitated the family prevailing on the police at Ketu division to impound the bus in question. We also suspected that Mr. Adesoji Adeboye might have been shot at the PDP rally in Epe, but was kept in the bus to die from his injury by those he took to Epe with the sole intention of covering up this crime and thereafter dumped his body close to the old Lagos end of the toll gate to make it look like he had an accident at the spot where he was found.
Our interest in this matter stems from the concern and doubts raised by the family about the mysterious and unexplained circumstances of how Adesoji Adeboye was killed and plan for a cover up.
We are hereby using this medium to demand for an urgent investigation of this heinous crime with the aim of prosecuting the perpetrators and getting justice for the family and the society at large.
