A staunch member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who is also believed to be one the followers of the Ekiti State Governor-elect, Mr Ayodele Fayose, Chief Omolafe Aderiye, was shot dead last night by some unknown gunmen.
Incidentally, Aderiye was among other supporters that followed Fayose to the High Court complex in Ado-Ekiti early in the morning when the governor-elect attended the sitting of the Governorship Ele...ction Petition Tribunal.
He also left the venue with Fayose and followed him to Fayose’s Spotless Hotel, GRA, Ado-Ekiti where the governor-elect attended to his supporters.
It was gathered that some assassins trailed Aderiye, who was a former state Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers to his office in Ijigbo area of the town and shot him dead.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Victor Babayemi, who spoke on the phone, said he had no comment for now.
As soon as the news of the incident spread across the town, some people took to the streets, causing mayhem.
The news of his death sent shivers into the camp of Fayose, which saw him as a dependable ally.
However, details of the death of the former strong PDP stalwart still remained sketchy, as people were found in groups mourning the sudden death of their loved one.
