Over 50 armed men have invaded Taaba Community in
Khana Local Government Area, beheading a youth, destroying the palace of the
Mene-Bua-Ba, Kabari Nu-le (the paramount ruler of Taaba) and
sacked members of the community (who now seeking refuge elsewhere).
The Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of
Assembly Honourable Leyii Kwanee, a native of Taaba while narrating the
incident said the once peaceful Taaba Community was thrown into turmoil
Thursday (September 18) at about 10pm when the gunmen struck leaving one other
youth seriously injured, now hospitalized.
Honourable Kwanee condemned the invasion of
his community saying it may have been orchestrated by desperate politicians who
are seeking power by all means ahead of the 2015 general election.
The Deputy Speaker charged new Commissioner of
Police in Rivers State Dan Bature to fish out the perpetrators of the
condemnable act since the matter has been formally reported to the Police and
called on the people of Taaba to remain calm.
He added that the remains of the youth that was
killed and beheaded has been deposited at a mortuary and promised to ensure that Taaba
community returns to the peaceful state it once was, in the shortest possible
time
