The Police
Service Commission has approved the promotion of two Commissioners of Police,
Johnson Ogunsakin and Buhari Tanko to the rank of Assistant Inspectors –
General of Police for their strategic professional experience, and also to fill
the vacancy created by the retirement of AIG Adebayo Ajileye from the South
–West geopolitical zone.
Also
promoted are 30 Deputy Commissioners of Police to the rank of Commissioners of
Police after their success in the recently concluded interview exercise
organised by the Commission.
The officers
include Pius Imue, Valentine Ntochukwu, Felix Ogundeji,
Frederick Lakanu, Hilda Ibifuro-Harrison, Micheal Ogbodu, Nwodibo
Ekechukwu, Etop James, Ademola Omole, Olushola Amore, Joshak
Habila, Adegbuyi Damilola, Rasheed Akintunde, Istifanus Shettima,
Jimoh Ozi-Obeh, and Ibrahim Lamorde.
Others are
Ghazalli Mohammed, Peace Abdallah, Victory Menta, Clement Adoda, Austin
Iwar, Adekunle Oladunjoye, Adaji Adejo-Gabriel, Sobulo B., Mohammed
Hussein, Ishaku Barau, Emmanuel Inyang, Olufemi Oyeleye, Gabriel
Achong and Ezekiel Zang.
Seven others
were also promoted Commissioners of Police in acting capacity pending when they
would be due for substantive promotion.
They are
Wilson Inalegwu, Mani Usman, Fatai Owoseni, Emmanuel Ojukwu, Moses
Jitibor, Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi, Ibine Emanuel.
The acting
Commissioners are currently occupying offices of Commissioners of Police.
All the appointments are with effect from August 25, 2014.

The Chairman
of the Commission, Dr. Mike Okiro, while congratulating the newly
promoted officers, enjoined them to see their elevation as an opportunity to
serve, and implored them to use their wealth of experience in uplifting the
Force.
