Mba was decorated with a new rank as an ACP on July 19, 2014, by the former Inspector-General of Police (IG), Mohammed Abubakar.
Mba was formerly a Chief Superintendent of Police.
Mba studied Law at the University of Lagos, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002. The former police spokesman, who hails from Ezimo in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State, was the best graduating Cadet Inspector in academics at the Police Academy, Kano, in 1993.
He was equally at the University of Dundee, Scotland where he obtained a Masters Degree in Law. Besides his core academic trainings, Mba has attended numerous Professional Police Courses in some of the best Law Enforcement Institutions in countries like Botswana, Italy, Israel, USA, amongst others.
He was a member of the Nigeria Police Contingent to the UN Peace Keeping Mission in Liberia between 2006 and 2007.
He rose up the police ladder and was promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1999, Deputy Superintendent of Police in 2003, Superintendent of Police in 2006 and Chief Superintendent of Police in 2012.
He was the substantive Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State police command, from 2007 to 2011.
