It is 8.07
am in Osogbo the Capital of the State of Osun.Under a fully charged and tensed atmosphere,
the people of Osun are trooping out in their thousands to polling booths to exercise
their civic responsibilities.
All through
the night, Security agents moved around major towns in the State in bravado
manner blaring sirens in a show of strength.
The poll
opened this morning as early as expected..As early as 7.00am,most polling
agents and INEC officials were already at their polling booths.
Materials
arrived in time especially in Osogbo,Ilesha ,Ile Ife and other najor towns in
the town..
Accreditation
has started
CKN Nigeria learnt
that it was easy to move materials around in Osun State as compared to Ekiti
State due to the topography of the State.
We learnt
that all major cities within Osun State are not more than forty five minutes
drive from the State capital,Osogbo.
Security is
tight.
There have
been allegations and counter allegations of arrest of key Party chieftains by
security agents but this cannot be confirmed by our reporters across the State.
The turn out
so far has been very high.The election from what we have seen so far,may
witness a huge turnout.
Latest
report though unconfirmed has it that the Labour Party candidate for today’s
election Alhaji Fatai Akinbade has stepped down from the race.
Both APC and
the PDP have been laying claim by telling his supporters that Akinbade have asked
his supporters to vote for Aregbesola and Omisore.
So far,
there have not been any report any untoward incident so far.
But from all
indications, it’s going to be a straight battle between the candidate of the
APC ,Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and PDP,Senator Iyiola Omisore.
