A suspected Boko Haram chief butcher, who was arrested last month by the
Nigerian Police, has said that it was always taking him two minutes to
slaughter his victim.
The suspect, who gave his name as Zakari Mohammed hails from Kaigamari
village, Daptchari in Darazo Local Government Area, Bauchi State.
The suspect made this known, on Wednesday, while being paraded by the
Nigerian Police in Abuja, against the media report which alleged that the
suspect had escaped from the police custody.
Thirty-year-old Mohammed stated that he had been a member of the
terrorist group for two years in Daura, Bauchi State and that he worked with
five other members.
He gave the other members name to include Hassan Garba and Mohammed,
Isa, adding that since he started, he had killed five persons.
Explaining how he kills his victims, he said the other four members will
tie and hold the victim, while he slaughters the victim and that it takes him
just two minutes to perpetrate the act.
While explaining to newsmen how the suspect was arrested, the Police
Public Relation Officer, ACP Frank Mba said that the Police Command on
July 12 arrested the suspect, while fleeing from a counter insurgency
operation.
“Following the massive onslaught of security forces on the activities of
the insurgent group, Boko Haram, at the Balmo Forest, Bauchi State, police
detectives attached to Bauchi State Police Command on Saturday, July 12, about
2.00 p.m arrested one Mohammed Zakari, a male of 30 years old and senior member
of the Boko Haram group along Darazo-Basrika road, while fleeing from the
intensive counter insurgency operations going on around the Balmo Forest.
“The suspect is the self-styled “chief butcher” of the insurgent group
at the Balmo forest camp,” Mba said.
Mba also said that the suspect is linked with the recent slaughter of
seven people, including women and children.
He, therefore, said that the findings from the suspect will assist the
law enforcement agencies in tracking down some other members of the terror
group.
Mba further stated “the suspect whom investigations reveals was tutored
in the art of insurgency at Gombe forest, under the leadership of a fleeing
insurgent, one Abba Taura and moved to Balmo Forest, three months ago, is
discovered to have actively participated in the April attack against Customs
Officers at Kari Town, along Maiduguri Road, Bauchi State.”
