Liberian President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, has expressed regret over the importation of the deadly Ebola virus by her national, late Patrick Sawyer, to Nigeria.
Johnson-Sirleaf described as unfortunate the embarrassment and health challenges the incident had caused the Federal Government and Nigerians.Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Nurudeen Mohammed, who hinted of Johnson-Sirleaf’s concern yesterday in Abuja, said she was worried over the spread of the disease in the country.
According to the minister, Johnson-Sirleaf had told the Federal Government that the late Sawyer was placed on surveillance when he sneaked out of Liberia through ASky Airline into Nigeria.
Mohammed spoke alongside Health Minister, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu at the briefing of the international community on Ebola disease in Nigeria.
