Two maids of Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty Rilwan Babatunde O. Akiolu, have been charged before a Lagos Chief Magistrate Court, sitting at Igbosere, for allegedly stealing of the sum of N30 million, belong...ing to the royal father.
The two accused maids, Ikudehin Victor, 34 and Hunsa Philip, also 34, were arraigned before the court presided over by Mrs. Helen Omisore, on a four count-charge of conspiracy, stealing, neglect to prevent felony and failure to prevent committing of an offence.
The offences, according to the prosecutor, C. N. Odi, Esq. are punishable under Sections 409, 285(7), and 408 of the criminal laws of Lagos state of Nigeria, 2011.
The count two of the charge reads: “That you Ikudehin Victor, and Hunsa Philip, between 2012 and March 2013, at Oba’s palace, Idunganran, Lagos Island, in the Lagos magisterial district, did steal the sum of N30 million property of HRM Rilwan B. O. Akiolu, male, and there by committing an offence punishable under Section 284(7), of the criminal laws of Lagos state, 2011.”
They were also alleged to have the knowledge that one Ajasa Abdul Basit, aged 15, was committing and offence but failed to use all reasonable means to prevent the commitment of the said offence.
The offence, the prosecutor said contravened and punishable under section 408 of the criminal laws of Lagos state of Nigeria, 2011.
The two accused,however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Consequently, following the not guilty plea of the accused persons, the magistrate, Mrs. Helen Omisore, admitted them to bail in the sum of N250, 000, 00 with two sureties in like sum.
The matter has been adjourned till July 31 for mention.
