THE governor-elect of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele
Fayose, the chairman of the Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP), Alhaji Yinka Taiwo and the former governor of the state, Chief Adebayo
Alao-Akala, among others, told the All Progressives Congress (APC), to prepare
for defeat in the 2015 general election, noting that the PDP would take over
the South-West.
Speaking during a rally and thank-you visit by
Governor Fayose to Oyo State, governorship aspirants of the party, including
Teslim Folarin; Seyi Makinde and Femi Babalola decried the lacklustre
performance of the APC in the state, calling on party members to unite.
While speaking, Fayose stated that President
Goodluck Jonathan would return in 2015, because he had performed well, calling
on those opposing the president within the PDP to allow him have peace of
mind to administer the country, saying: “to everyone disparaging the party, no
matter how highly-placed, stop disparaging the party or the president.” “This
is the last time and should be the last time that anybody in this party will
disparage Mr. President or the PDP. If you disparage this party, we will sack
you. We will suspend you whether you are a former president, former governor or
former senator.
“To the APC,
they have failed in the South-West, they have been given opportunities and they
failed. They have to go. In Ekiti we won, and in Oyo State, we can win and we
will win. Election is not won on the pages of newspapers and by mere
propaganda,” he said.
Fayose further tasked the PDP members to guide
their votes jealously, even as he said there would be no room for imposition
ahead of 2015.
“There must be no imposition anywhere. The Alhaji
Adamu Muazu-led exco gave us a rare opportunity of allowing a level playing
field which produced me as governor. Let the best candidate win the election
for the party,” Fayose said.
At the rally were the chairman, South-West PDP
Mobilisation and Contact Committee, Prince Buruji Kashamu; South-West PDP
caretaker chairman, Chief Ishola Filani, former Deputy Governor Hazeem
Gbolarumi; Prof. Taoheed Adedoja and Prof. Soji Adejumo, among others.
