Barring any last
minute ditches, the Imo State Government will today demolish the family house of
a Kidnap kingpin in Obowu LGA of the State.
According to a report reaching CKN
Nigeria,Chigoze Ebere (Chidoziri Okoji) who along with his gang members were recently
arrested for the kidnap of the senior brother of Multimillionaire and owner of
Coscharis Motors, Mr Pius Maduka was kidnapped from his Umudim Nnewi home in
Anambra State few weeks back. His kidnappers demand a whopping N100m for
his release.
His family were able
to pay N12m and in the course of waiting for the balance sum of N32m,the gang
were arrested by a crack team of the Nigerian police
Maduka was kidnapped on July 4, 2014 at his country home, and whisked
away in the gang’s 607 Peugeot car with plate number GGE 31 BC. He was held in
captivity for nine days before being rescued.
The suspects, namely, Bartholomew Ugwu (alias Jackmore) from Umunze in Orumba Local Government Area of Anambra State, and Chigozie Ebere (Chukwudoziri Okoji) from Umungwa, Obowo in neighbouring Imo State, after kidnapping Maduka, took him to their hideout, from where they demanded N100 million ransoms.
The third member of the gang, Nnaemeka Ezekwe, who is also from Umunze, served as the gang’s informant.
In a letter written to the paramount ruler of Umungwa autonomous
community in Imo State obtained by CKN Nigeria,the Imo State stated that based
on its enacted law,all kidnappers will have their family home demolished to
serve as a deterrent to others.
The house located at Umuokoroma village in Umungwa opposite Malaysia
market will be brought down by bulldozers today
The young man has been fingered in other kidnapping in the past..Some of
those that escaped his gangs were two prominent sons of the village i.e,Dr E C
Ibe (a former Executive Director of NNPC ) and Dr Eke,a Port Harcourt based renowned
medical practitioner.
