VicePresident Namadi Sambo, on Thursday, kicked off expansion project
for the outer southern expressway which extended from the Villa Roundabout
through Kuje and to Gwagwalada, valued at N39, 829, 749, 225. 69.
The project which has completion period of 36 months is being handled by
Messrs CGC Nigeria Limited and was awarded six months ago.

kilometres with several interchange structures, according to the project brief
obtained by the Nigerian Tribune.
Speaking at the event, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),
Bala Mohammed, noted that the completed aspects of the carriageways had, over
time, proven to be highly inadequate as a result of the increasing traffic on
the road, thereby causing severe hardship to FCT residents and other road
users.
He stated that the determination to enhance the welfare of the teeming
populace of the FCT necessitated the decision to improve the existing two
carriageways of four lanes into four carriageways of 10 lanes.
The minister further disclosed that the four interchange locations had
eight bridges.
He said, “I wish to report to you that the entire residents of FCT in
particular and Nigerians at large are, indeed, very, happy for this giant
strides
“We are committed to building and delivering to Nigerians a capital city
that is consistent with the masterplan and by the grace of God among the best
20 cities in the world by the 2020.
“For this reason, we can assure you that the project will be executed
according to specifications, within the stipulated timeframe and in adherence
to global best practice.”
