Glo Wins Phillips Consulting's Best Customer Experience, Best Technical Aspects Awards

Globacom has won Phillips Consulting's Best Customer Experience, Best Technical Aspects Awards for the best website in the telecommunications industry. 

The company’s website won the two awards at this year’s Web Jurist Awards organised by Phillips Consulting. The awards were presented at a prestigious ceremony held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Renowned business consulting firm, Phillips Consulting, which runs the awards annually, said Glo was selected after a careful study of technical content, functionality and user-friendliness of the websites of telecommunication operators in the country.

The awards were presented to Globacom by the Chief Operating Officer of Phillips Consulting, Mr. Folusho Phillips. 

He stated that the Web Jurist ratings were conceived by e-business experts at Phillips Consulting in May, 2001, with the primary objective of critically and objectively evaluating the effectiveness of websites in Nigeria.

The focus, he explained, was initially on the financial services industry but that the rating was later extended to cover other major sectors of the economy. “In selecting the award, we take into consideration what the customer wants and what is obtainable in more developed economies,” Phillips said.

He added that the Web Jurist evaluation tool used intelligent algorithms and processes, involving a detailed step-by-step web analysis to evaluate the effectiveness and performance of websites based on aesthetics, technical aspects, site content, web transaction processing, customer experience and performance.

The ceremony was attended by bankers, executives of telecoms companies, financial institutions as well as international representatives from companies nominated in the different categories. 

Reacting to the development, Mr Mohammed Jameel, Group Chief Operating Officer of Globacom, expressed delight in winning the two awards. “This acknowledgement is something we at Globacom take very seriously and appreciate the vote of confidence by the Analysts. We will continue to do our best to offer world-class telecommunications services to our customers,” he said.

Since it began business in 2003, Glo has won numerous awards for innovative services and investment in technology. The most recent is the Beacon ICT awards where Glo won Best Telecoms Company of the Year, Most Innovative Mobile Player of the Year and Undersea Cable Company of the Year.

Globacom was also recently ranked amongst the top five Most Valuable Brands in Africa by Brand.
