Former
national deputy chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode
George, has counseled former President Olusegun Obasanjo to take it easy and
emulate his counterpart elder statesmen like Alhaji Shehu Shagari, Generals
Yakubu Gowon, Ibrahim Babangida, Abdulsalami Abubakar, in both words and deeds.
George gave
the advice on Saturday at his Ikoyi residence while speaking with newsmen on
issues of national interest.
It will be
recalled that Obasanjo was reported to have said that he could secure the
release of the over 200 abducted schoolgirls by the Boko Haram sect.
“Only Baba
(Obasanjo) can hear and understand the kind of music he is dancing to,” George
said, even as he quickly cautioned that the former president should take it
easy as an elder statesman.
According to
the PDP chieftain, as a Yoruba, Obasanjo should also maintain and continue to
play an elder’s role no matter the level of provocation, saying there was no
need to be getting deeply involved in many of the political issues in the
country.
While
admitting that he could still involve himself in some national issues, George
said it was better that those issues were brought to him for his wise counsel
as done by his counterpart former presidents and heads of state.
Speaking on
the ongoing controversial pension being paid to former governors in the
country, he declared that his party would cancel it once elected into power in
Lagos State.

ReplyDeleteOBJ must comment because other countries have accountability and no Godfatherism. GEJ must listen to the man who put him there
