Suspected members of the outlawed Boko Haram sect invaded a church in Attagara village in Gwoza local government area of Borno state, killing nine worshipers.
The service was abruptly disrupted as other worshipers had to take to their heels, with many people injured in the process.
It was gathered on Monday in Maiduguri that the armed men stormed a church at Attagara village in Gwoza Local Government and opened fire on worshippers while Sunday service was going on at about 9.30am.
A police source told journalists in Maiduguri that nine persons were killed in the church, identified as EYN Church. But he said that the people later took on the insurgents and were able to kill four of them.
