AS diplomatic paperwork is being concluded to repatriate Abubakar Sadiq Ogwuche, co-mastermind of the Nyanya motor park bombing in which scores of ...citizens died and hundreds wounded, the Federal Government, on Thursday, announced the arrest of his father, Colonel Agene Ogwuche (retd).
Ms Marylyn Ogar, spokesperson for the Department of State Security Services (SSS), revealed this during the daily media briefing by the National Information Centre at the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Abuja.
Ogar explained that Elder Ogwuche was taken in because he breached the bond, which he signed while taking his son’s bail in 2012.
Abubakar Sadiq Ogwuche, a British-born Nigerian, was arrested on November 12, 2011 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on arrival from the United Kingdom (UK) on terrorism-related charges, but was released on October 15, 2012, following intense pressure from human rights activists, who alleged human rights violation.
Contributing, police spokesperson, Frank Mba, said the retired military colonel would be made to answer for his inability to meet the bail bond which he signed, pledging to produce his son when needed for questioning.
Director-General of NOA, Mr Mike Omeri, gave the assurance once again that the over 200 Chibok Government Secondary School girls still in the custody of Boko Haram terrorists would soon be brought back home to rejoin their families.
Answering a question as to when the world should expect them back, Omeri said Nigeria was currently working with members of the international community to ensure that the girls were rescued in good shape and right frame of mind.
He refused to join issues with either Borno State governor, Alhaji Kashim Shetima, or Senator Ahmed Zannah, who had accused the military of not using information given to them properly.
Omeri commended members of the Kalabalge community in Borno State, who repelled an attack by the Boko Haram and instead killed scores of the invaders and seized many of their vehicles.
According to him, this showed that citizens were brazing up to the antics of the marauders and urged other communities to emulate the Borno villagers.
Why Ogwuche’s arrival to Nigeria is delayed
The Federal Government has announced that there has been a delay in bringing back the suspected mastermind of April 14 Nyanya blast, Sadiq Ogwuche, to Nigeria due to some processes involved in transferring terrorist from one country to another.
Omeri made this known at the National Briefing Centre on the recent security challenges in Nigeria, on Thursday.
Omeri said the processes of getting persons extradited from sister countries took some procedures and time.
He said “considering that extradition processes take some time to conclude, the terror fugitive, Sadiq Ogwuche’s arrival in Nigeria is still being awaited.”
He, however, said relevant officials were working round the clock to conclude the process and bring him back to the country.
Speaking on the alleged mutiny in Borno, Omeri said the nature and details of the incident were still sketchy.
He also added that a military board of enquiry to look into the matter had been constituted.

God is at work in this nation. All practitioners of evil from Boko haram to ritual killings to political assassinations you better repent because God is moving like a whirl wind and he will exact his judgement with speed from now.
