Lagos Bomb Scare Was A False Alert..Police

The scene yesterday
There was confusion on Thursday on the island of Lagos, following the alarm by some members of the public that somebody had planted  explosives in one of the markets.
Traders around Tinubu Market and Tom Jones Street were alerted to some bags  suspected to contain explosives and planted close to the Central Mosque in the area.
The timely arrival of policemen from Area A police command and Ebutte Ero divisional police station doused the tension, as the area was immediately cordoned off and men of the Anti-Bomb unit were invited.
The news of the explosion instantly spread like wild fire and traders had to  swiftly  relocatefrom the scene of the discovery.
A trader at Idumota, who simply identified herself as Mummy Tope, while speaking yesterday, stated that the news of the explosive really affected traders around Idumota market.
She said: “when I got to the market, I saw that some places were deserted and I  was told that some people had planted bomb in the area.  I believed when I saw policemen there.”
She added that “ the thing really affected business around that area as people were scared to move close to that area and the police also prevented people from passing through that area
The image maker in charge of the state police command, Ngozi  Braide, while speaking on the incident, commended the people for their vigilance but denied that it was explosives.
She noted that men of the Explosive Ordinance Disposal of the Nigeria Police were quickly drafted to the scene, adding  that it was discovered that no bomb was planted in the area.
Braide stated that the adhesive fell from somebody and that people who did not know what it was meant for raised the alarm, leading to bomb scare among many people.
