Israel To Join Chibok Girls Rescue Mission

Nigeria’s quest to secure the release of the abducted Chibok girls received another boost Sunday; when Israeli Prime Minister, Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu called President Goodluck Jonathan to convey his country’s sympathy and solidarity over the abductions.
But perhaps more importantly, the Israeli Premier also offered to send a team of Israeli counter-terrorism experts to assist in the ongoing search and rescue operations.
Already the world is rallying behind Nigeria with such nations like the US, Britain, Canada, France and China all offering support.
In fact experts from the US and Britain arrived the country last Friday to help their Nigerian counterparts try to track down the Boko Haram insurgents who claim to have been behind the brazen abduction of almost 300 secondary school girls, which has captured the attention of virtually the whole world.
Israel is one of the foremost nations in dealing with insurgency, having honed their skills in dealing with militant Arabs over the years.
However, if reports on CNN are anything to go by, despite the influx of support from all around the world, the task of freeing the hostages will not be easy.
Quoting unnamed intelligence experts, CNN reported that they were told that the girls have been split into groups – making it much more difficult to mount a rescue operation if the Boko Haram hideout is eventually found.
The American cable news network, also said intel available to them indicate that some of the girls may have been spirited outside Nigeria to a neighbouring country possibly Cameroon or Niger.
France on her part has said that it will be deploying about 3000 troops to patrol the Niger, Chad and Cameroon borders with Nigeria
