A
businessman identified as Chief Bright Igwegbu, was Thursday shot dead by
unknown gunmen at the Mile 2 area of Lagos.
Although
it was yet to be ascertained if the gunmen were robbers or assassins, the
police said investigations into the death of the businessman, who was popularly
known as Aku, have commenced.
The
Imo State-born businessman was said to have been driving in his grey-coloured
ML 450 Mercedes SUV when his assailants suddenly appeared from nowhere
and shot him repeatedly on the neck and head.
The
graduate of Economics from the Ogun State University, who was billed to travel
next week to Houston, Texas to visit his family based there, had been attacked
twice by gunmen, with near fatalities.
Although he survived the first two attacks, the third one got him down.
Family sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the deceased was attacked three weeks ago, when he went to a pharmacy store in FESTAC Town to get some drugs.
As
at press time, police sources said some arrests had been made, although they
refused to divulge the identity of the arrested suspects.
