The 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army Akure
has arrested and paraded a middle aged lady, Angela Omieh for impersonation, as
she has been parading herself as an army officer.
The lady was said to have been apprehended in
possession of military uniforms, police extract and sworn affidavit for loss of
her military identity card.
The Public Relations Officer of the Artillery Brigade,
Captain Ademola Adegoke, who paraded the suspect said she was arrested
following a report by her boyfriend.
According
to him, Omieh, who resides in Mile 3, Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State was
upon investigation and search discovered to be in possession of Military kits,
two pairs of camouflage, Camouflage T shirt and shorts, one pair of desert
boot, one jungle hat and three handsets.
She said the suspect had earlier claimed to be a
soldier attached to the 149 Battalion but deployed to Joint Task Force Warri
for her Military duty.
Adegoke explained that her boyfriend, Mr. Collins
Jegede had narrated how she met Omieh on social network where she dressed in
Military outfits, adding that he got interested, requested for friendship and
later, the fake soldier paid him a visit in January, 2014 in full Military
uniform.
Jegede was also said to have reciprocated the visit
but was surprised that Angela lodged him in a hotel at Sango Ijaye axis of
Lagos State instead of 149 Battalion, Ojoo Military Baracks where she had
claimed to work and resides.
However, the lady was said to have made another visit
on April 17, 2014 and was prevented by Jegede, who consequently reported the
case to the officer in charge of a Military checkpoint at Owo following the
suspicion that she was a fake soldier.
The
suspect however confirmed to be a fake soldier, who was going around to make
end means.
She said she bought the Military uniforms from Army
depot in Zaria following the death of her father in 2011.
Angela, who confirmed that she is a fake soldier said
she attended the Nigerian Army depot in Zaria, Kaduna state and opted out when
she had injuries.
She added that she could not continue when her father
died and decided to buy the Military outfits with which she travel to Cotonou
for businesses.
She however said she started using the Military
outfits this year, saying she never attended any military school that could
make her qualify as an army officer.
Good job mr jegede.you were not carried away with her claims some other persons would have used her to mske money by introducing other dubious activities.
