The Emir of Gombe, Alhaji (Dr.) Usman Shehu Abubakar, has passed on, he was 76. He died yesterday, May 27th after a long battle with cancer at the Royal Marsden Hospital, Fulham Road, London. A press release by the Secretary to the Gombe State Governmnet, Abubakar Bake confirmed his death. His body will be flown back to Nigeria on the 28th of May, 2014 for burial according to Islamic rights.
He was the chairman of the Gombe State Council of Traditional Rulers and had been on the throne since January 1984 and a member of the National Conference currently holding in Abuja..His death brings to three the number of delegates that have died since the conference began few weeks ago
