First Lady Patience Jonathan acted
unconstitutionally by summoning some Borno State government officials over the
abduction of more than 200 school girls in Chibok, a member of the House of
Representatives, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has said.
The lawmaker who was reacting to last week’s
summoning of Borno State Police Commissioner and the governor’s wife as well as
the school principal.
Rep Dabiri-Erewa said the first lady does not have the constitutional powers to summon any public officer.
Addressing journalists shortly after yesterday’s plenary, Dabiri-Erewa said: “it is unthinkable that a first lady could summon a Commissioner of Police.
“That office is not recognized by the constitution. Summoning public officials like a Commissioner of Police goes beyond the powers of the first lady. It’s like summoning the IGP (Inspector General of Police). She has gone beyond the limit of that office.”
Dabiri-Erewa who is the chairperson of the House committee on Diaspora also condemned Monday’s arrest of some women who came out to protest against the abduction of the school girls in Chibok, Borno State on April 14.
While describing the arrest as “unreasonable,” Dabiri-Erewa said “Let us stop the harassment of the Nigerian women because nothing will stop the Nigerian women until these girls are back.”

ReplyDeleteWhen APC want to attack , the attack from all quarters , did she summon or invite them ? . In this situation all hands must be on deck to find d missing girls
ReplyDeletePower tossel while the Nigerian future leader our dreams are somewhere only God knows. Its time to take action a small group of religious fools can not hold our dear country Nigeria to randsom.
ReplyDeleteAbike go and sleep, if first lady as a woman and mother does not show concern about what happened those innopcent girls, u and ur APC fanatists will stil condemn, make una go sleep, who has blessed no one can curse.
ReplyDeleteAbike a common news caster, what do you know about govt. You are just been jelous of the first lady, pls go and hit your head on Zuma rock.FOOL
ReplyDeleteYou are a fool for calling her a common news caster... She is a third term member of the house yet you are asking what she knows about gov..... African Magic don scatter your head Mr Zuma rock
DeleteAbike, you're a bad woman. How did you want her to react to the missing girls? Tell her because you're highly celebral. Poor woman.
ReplyDeletecan't expect otherwise from any apc member. shameless individuals. if my mother can contribute to this search I will encourage her too. 1st lady did and contributed her quota. apc is fool of malice.
ReplyDeleteThese comments are a clear indication of what our past leaders have done 2 our own generation. If all of us reason with sentiments nd find it this difficult to understand simple observations, we may never be able to move beyond were we are presently. Its unfortunate that sentiments have overtaken our faculty of good nd sound reasoning nd more unfortunate that this our generation wuold never realise it.
ReplyDeleteThnk u Sir, nd na we dey suffer am
DeleteBless u
DeleteWell said Abike,God bless you
ReplyDeletepatience wud av shown her concern in a more mature way. Dnt she n her husbnd av advicers dat wil tel her dat its nt right 2 do so? Lets talk facts n stop talking lyk ignorants. Patience tought being first lady is a position. Let d truth b told n stop dis apc tin plz
ReplyDeleteIt's quite unfortunate dat some of the pple dat commented on dis issue are educated illiterate.what abike said is that the first lady does not has d constitutional powers to summoned the commissioner of police.simple as abc.nd as 4 d person dat says abike is jealous of dame,y would she b jealous of an illiterate?another mumu says she's just a news caster did dat mumu knew wat it takes 2 b a journalist?an illiterate can never be a jounalist dat tells u abike is well educated unlike ur dam or dame of a thing
ReplyDelete@ 12:34 in as much as it is not easy to b an educated Jounalist, that is how it can never b easy to a first Lady of a country (d one U call a thing) words are cheap U know...
ReplyDeleteWht hs she contributed by summoning d Borno state officials apart frm "na only u waka come?". We r talking abt constitutional right nd due process hear nd not abuse of power nd or show off pls but unfortunately some of us r being sentimental. Is that hw a 1st lady supposed 2 talk or show concern b4 local nd international media? Tht ws more or less harrastment nd or embarrassment. Pls let's face d fact nd reality nd stop being sentimental
ReplyDeleteSome people are really funny. If patience keeps quiet u will complain. What is due process here for christ sake. The people protesting did they follow due process. After the summon. Have u heard the kind of discovering so far. What are males students doing I a female school. When did a fourty year old start school? Why register external candidates who are not even females? Did the principle follow die process and is it constitutional for her to register male students in a female school most of them are old to be their fathers when there are adult schools every where?
DeleteYou forgot to mention that the leader of the protest was only an impersonator claiming to be mother to d abducted meanwhile she has never been to borno state. How can 270 people fit into 2 hilux vehicles, even 3 molue can not carry 200 at once
DeleteI give kudos to d wife of d president of Nigeria. What d national assembly, senators, presidential advisers could not do she did. All we want is result and this reultbis timed. We don't need committees to be set up. Nigeria government has failed us, so we must take our destiny in our hands.
DeleteAbike shiold go seat down
ReplyDeletePatience Jonathan is a mother of all disgrace. Because of this illiterate, Nigeria has become a laughing stroke to other African countries. She must be told in clear terms that she has no place in Nigerian constitution and anything she is doing today can be used to send her to prison if our judiciary is realy independent
ReplyDeleteYu pple condemin d first did yu even ask us so call Abike wot she has done about dis issue here b/4 say someone as right to do dis or do that.
ReplyDeleteThis is not time 4 constitution talk abike! U're a witch, people are confuse and worried here, and u're talking of constituton! Na crazy they ur head abike.
ReplyDeleteWhat Abike said is that patience has no constitutional power to summon them.... Let us remove sentinments....Abike has spoken well ..... Madam Diaspora continue your good work
