The Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) will meet on Thursday, in
Abuja, to find lasting solutions to the incessant crises between herdsmen and
farmers in the region.
The forum will also discuss the memorandum submitted to it by Governor
Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State, on the insurgency in the North.
Chairman of the forum and Governor of Niger State, Dr Mu’azu Babangida
Aliyu, said in Minna on Monday that “the forum is now in receipt of Nyako’s
memo and would look at the concerns raised by Admiral Nyako with a view to
addressing the issues.”
Meanwhile, the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has thrown its weight
behind Nyako, who in a letter dated April 16, 2014 sent to the governors of
northern states, accused the Federal Government of genocide against the people
of the North.
The ACF, in a statement in Kaduna, on Monday, signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Muhammad Ibrahim, accused the government of complacency in tackling insurgency and other terrorist acts in the North.
The ACF, in a statement in Kaduna, on Monday, signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Muhammad Ibrahim, accused the government of complacency in tackling insurgency and other terrorist acts in the North.
According to the ACF, Governor Nyako had alleged that the Federal
Government had failed to arrest the mindless slaughter and indiscriminate
bloodletting by the Boko Haram insurgents and other terrorist groups which was
a clear and systematic effort to destroy the Northern population for partisan
political advantage.
