Marriages Contracted Through Facebook Bound To Fail..Pastor Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Saturday said marriages contracted through social media may not last.
He said, “If you marry the modern way lik...e on Facebook, you may likely divorce the modern way. Marry traditionally and involve God.”
Adeboye gave the warning in a sermon he preached on at the wedding of President Goodluck Jonathan’s foster daughter, Faith, and her husband, Godswill, in Abuja.
Adeboye also stated that the success or failure of any marriage rests on the husband who is the head and therefore advised the groom to ensure that the marriage succeeded.
He urged him not to criticise his wife but correct her in love.
The clergyman also urged mothers-in-law to avoid interfering in the life of the new couple.
Meanwhile, the wedding reunited the President with former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State.
The relationship between Amaechi and the President had been strained since the polarisation of the Nigerian Governors Forum, which saw the Presidency backing Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State against the Rivers State governor.
The relationship between Jonathan and Obasanjo became sour when the former President wrote a public letter last year, accusing the President of putting some persons on a watch list, condoning corruption and engaging in acts capable of destroying the country, among other weighty allegations.
The President had replied the letter, saying Obasanjo’s letter was designed to incite Nigerians from other geopolitical zones against him and also calculated to promote ethnic disharmony.
But Obasanjo and Amaechi made surprise appearances at the wedding service held at the National Christian Centre, Abuja.
While Amaechi did not wait till the end of the service, Obasanjo arrived just as the sermon was being concluded.
He was given a seat beside an Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark, who has also been criticising him (Obasanjo) for meddling in Jonathan’s administration.
He exchanged pleasantries briefly with Clark before keeping a straight face throughout the service.
The mention of the names of Obasanjo and Amaechi attracted a loud ovation from the congregation with the President smiling.
The extra security measures put in place for the wedding by a combined team of all security agencies led to a lock down in the Federal Capital Territory, especially at the Central Business District.
Dignitaries who attended the wedding service included former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (retd.); former Head, Interim National Government, Chief Ernest Shonekan; President of the Senate, David Mark; Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha; among others.
