Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State has stressed the importance of rotational governorship in the state, saying apart from the Ikwerre ethnic nationality, any other ethnic group in the state could contest 2015 governorship election.
Amaechi, an Ikwerre man who has been ruling the state since 2007, said it would be unfair for yet another Ikwerre son or daughter to aspire to become governor of the state next year.
Speaking when chiefs and elders of Ogu/Bolo paid him a solidarity visit at the Government House, Port Harcourt, on Friday, the governor described those from Ikwerre ethnic nationality warming up for next year’s governorship election in the state as desperate politicians.
