President
Goodluck Jonathan has declared that the opposition party, All Progressives
Congress (APC), is progressing to nowhere other than hell.
He was speaking in Enugu Friday at the
South-East zonal rally of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
The president asserted that no other party,
apart from the PDP, could take the country to anywhere.
Jonathan, who expressed confidence that his
party would win all the gubernatorial elections in the zone in 2015, said:
"Some people will tell you that they are progressing. Progressing to hell
or to where? Do not make mistake, the PDP is the only party...Here in the
South-East, we've seen that we've no problem. You'll see the line-up of our
programmes; it's clear that South-east is a PDP zone. Anyone holding
governorship office in the zone, you'll see that they are all PDP. We'll take
total control of the government in the South-East. I say total".
According to the president, the PDP will
remain the best party in Africa as "It is the only party without a
dictator".
"PDP is the only party that people like
me from an unknown background can be whatever they want. Other parties can
never take Nigeria anywhere. Nigeria is a great country where to move forward,
you've to have an open mind. PDP is the only party with that quality.
"Here, there is leadership, and we follow
everything based on the rule of law and due process. It's the only party
recognised even outside Nigeria. Other parties are not even known outside
Nigeria. This is the party that will continue to create jobs for our
people", he added.
Earlier, the PDP governors from the zone;
Sullivan Chime (Enugu), Theodor Orji (Abia), Williams Obiano (Anambra) and
Martins Elechi (Ebonyi) had requested Jonathan to seek re-election in 2015.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Chime
said the rally was soley aimed at requesting Jonathan to run for the next
general election.
"Mr. President, the essence of this
gathering is very simple. Our people have been meeting and we've only two
requests. One is that you run for 2015. Our second request is to plead with you
to please say yes to our first request. We're not here to discuss your budget.
We're not here to assess your government. All we want is that you say yes to
our first and second requests," Chime said.
For Orji, should the president refuse to seek
re-election, all the PDP governors from the zone would conscript him.
"If you say no, we shall conscript you.
We know that it is under this PDP government that we got an Inspector-General
of Police and a Chief of Army Staff after 40 years. Under this government,
we've the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Minister of
Finance. You have even done more than all you promised as you assured", he
said.
On his part, Elechi said it was only proper
for Jonathan to continue to do the good work he had started.
"You've set an unprecedented record in
the Nigerian democratic landscape by allowing the people to freely elect their
leaders. You've also tolerated abuses even from the opposition, yet you never
responded. Don't listen to those claiming they're ready to rescue Nigeria. For
these observations, we say don't reject our requests. You're the person we're
waiting for", he said.
Correct party for life
ReplyDeleteFunny how APC think they have supporters especially when they see comments on internet blogs. The real voters have no time for this , Ngige can tell better. APC default action is to go to court after election they woun't organise rallies like their counterpart . Let tell u categorically that GOODLUCK IS D BEST PRESIDENT NIGERIA HAS HAD DINCE 1966. Right now , not until I see a better candidate , he has my vote in 2015. I care less about the party. I care about the candidate.

ReplyDeleteIt is apparent that this ogogoro man called Jonathan has lost focus. Is he blind that he cannot see that the country is turning to a faild state under his leadership. This man is utterly confuse. Hope he is aware that the world bank has rubbish his rebasing which has to place in Nigerian economic policy but a political gimmick to deceive gullible Nigerians who cannot access social amenities in their blessed country. Jonathan should resign right now.
